As a patient advocate I work as that person's guide. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement calls patient advocates supporters, believers, backers, and spokespeople. Which means as a patient advocate I work for my patient.
Getting to know the health care system can become very overwhelming and stressful, especially when a patient is dealing with a scary new health diagnosis.
How can I help you?
As a patient advocate I will be assisting patients and their loved ones with navigating the healthcare system. So allow me to be your personal GPS. First stop! I will be communicating with doctors, working with insurance companies, and setting up tests and screenings, follow up appt. As a patient advocate I can  also assist with receiving financial, social, and legal support, they also correspond with health care providers, case managers. Anything to a patient's medical care needs a little less complicated.
